He sucks at the start of each match, but at level 20 is the same as Gennaro, and then improves twice more. Once you've killed 10K of them, Mortaccio, the skeleton, unlocks. But after you've gotten more confident in your ability to last to 20+ minutes, go back and play in the first grass level. Think of them like water in a desert.Īlso: in this midgame phase, the library is probably the easiest place to level. You should be constantly picking up gems. If you keep running the same way, your gem pickups will be sparse, you will outrun bosses and miss out on their chests, and you'll get killed. You want to do this anyway to collect gems. This also means that you don't want to keep running in the same direction, you want to kinda circle around, so you get all the bosses you can. Beat on those suckers until the candy comes out. If you're running away from bosses, stop doing that. Gennaro's daggers will also give you directional hit power, the downside being that you have to face where you want the damage. The axe is annoying to use until it evolves, but then becomes awesome. From there, try to get the magic wand and an area attack, like the fire wand (kinda meh until it evolves) or the cross. That adds another projectile per level, up to +2. Then focus on leveling up the Magic Wand to 7 at least once, which will unlock the Duplicator for later matches. Then play with Gennaro, who has another +1 projectile.

Reduced cooldowns and plus damage are both good. The best defense is killing things before they get to you. You probably want to focus on offensive power. It costs $10K if it's the first buff you buy, adds +1 projectile, and is probably the strongest overall until you unlock another in the late game. If you've got enough money, buy the 'Amount' power. You never lose money doing this, you get back every dollar.
